The 13th China International Chemical Industry Fair (ICIF China 2014) was inaugurated recently at the Tianjin Binhai International Convention and Exhibition Center, an annual event co-sponsored by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and Tianjin Municipal People's Government. With a theme of “Life Needs Chemicals”, ChemChina showcased its newest cutting-edge technologies and products at its exhibition booths which consisted of four sections: “New Products & New Life”; "New Technologies & New Applications”; "Life & Science”; and “Environment & Services”. The four sections fully demonstrated the close relations between chemical products and people’s everyday life, especially the importance of forefront chemical technologies and products in improving people’s life quality.

Arranged in a semicircular open layout, ChemChina’s exhibition booths looked stylish, attractive and unique with a creative design. Instead of using common exhibition boards as usual, this time the company adopted a variety of new exhibition methods, such as exhibiting real downstream products, displaying virtual scenes, Ipad interaction, etc. Designed and arranged differently from each other and provided with a two-dimensional code, the four sections attracted a large number of visitors and greatly enhanced the brand image of ChemChina.

With numerous products widely used, the chemical industry has penetrated into every aspect of people's life. Chemical products are seen in trains, planes, cars, kitchens, home appliances, cell phones and cosmetics, almost everywhere. In the “New Products & New Life” section, a lot of real products and models of products commonly seen in daily life were exhibited, enabling visitors to feel the “zero distance” from the chemical industry and enjoy the convenience that chemical products bring to their life. This section mainly showcased Bluestar silicone products, Bluestar carbon fiber products and Zhonghao organic fluorine products, all of which belong to the scope of ChemChina new materials.

The “New Technologies & New Applications” section revealed the social and economic value of energy-saving and environmental technologies developed by the Southwest Research & Design Institute of Chemical Industry which are used to turn coke oven waste gas into residential natural gas. It typically showcased a series of ChemChina’s advanced technical solutions to waste resources utilization and new energy development. This section also displayed Bluestar Beijing Chemical Machinery’s ion-exchange membrane electrolyzer remote monitoring platform which realizes real-time monitoring, analyzing and pre-warning of equipment risks. This represents the company’s transition from a mere manufacturer to a manufacturing service provider.

Most popular in this section was a “modern farm” virtual model, where various domestic animals were grazing leisurely on the green grass, with maize, strawberries and rice growing vibrantly in the field. Numerous visitors took photos before the model. This section revealed the relationship between the chemical industry and life sciences, showcasing ChemChina’s pesticides and plant protection products as well as Bluestar’s methionine animal nutrition additives.

With a huge photo of the National Stadium, the “Environment & Services” section introduced Bluestar’s water treatment membrane recycling technology which enables the National Stadium to realize a wastewater recycling rate of 100%, providing 70% of the water needed by the Stadium. This part of exhibition showcased Bluestar’s cutting-edge technologies in this field. In the present situation of water shortage and insecurity, the sea water desalinization and high-end water purification technology and equipment of Bluestar Hangzhou Water Treatment Center attracted particular attention. The high-end water purification technology was exhibited by a huge photo of a supermarket shopping trolley, placed on which were bottles of Tsingtao beer, Nongfushangquan mineral water, Wahaha and some other beverages. Many visitors were amazed to see that their daily drinks are made with the help of Bluestar technology. In addition to high-quality drinking water, the technology and equipment of Bluestar Hangzhou Water Treatment Center can also produce pure water for medical use and for electronics industry use.

At the opening ceremony, Li Yongwu, Chairman of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and Fan Xiaosen, Deputy General Manager of ChemChina paid a visit to the ChemChina’s exhibition stand and listened to Chief Commercial Officer Liu Yanwen introduce the company’s exhibition contents and design. With great interest, Li Yongwu had a close look at the exhibition board of carbon fiber and other new products and asked some questions about the production process and production capacity of these products.

Themed “Looking into the Next Decade of the World's Petrochemical Industry and China's Opportunities for Development and Innovation”, the 2014 China International Petrochemical Industry Conference was held in parallel with ICIF China 2014.
